--The Story of Helgaar--

The Old Kingdom

When civilians refer to "The Old Kingdom", they are referring to Helgaar before the Orc Wars.

The Old Kingdom was a peaceful and relaxing place to live, calm filled the air, the people were happy and everyone lived in harmony.  That, of course, was before the great Ogre Wars.

Before the collapse of the Old Kingdom which occured during the Orc Wars, Helgaar was inhabited solely by Humans, Dwarves and Orcs.

The Orc Wars

After the death of the former High-King, Ultùraa, a new High-King was chosen by the People.  He was known as "Hagrid the Almighty", he was a warrior and a former Army General, who slayed thousands of some of Helgaar's strongest creatures.  He was elected for his great leadership skills and for his bravery.  However, Helgaar was racist; and greatly so. His mother and father were slain by Orcs during a raid on his hometown.  Years after he sook out to find the raiders and after finding them, burned down their settlement and stole their loot.

Hagrid still had a burning passion against the Orcs, boiling up inside his heart.  Hagrid gave the Orcs a month to get their things sorted and leave the city.  But the Orcs, refused.  Hagrid grew infuriated at this and ordered his men to go into their homes and slaughter the Orcs, one by one.

The Orcs who resided outside of the City's gates, gathered a small army of surrounding Orcs, who then gathered a larger army of other Orcs, until eventually; their army was as great as Hagrid's.  They burst through the city gates, killing their way through the land until they reached the Castle.

There they met with the high-king who had slayed their people, they found Hagrid.  Hagrid ran to inform the Guards of the incident and all the Guards began to fight the Orcs, but they were no match.  The Orcs were a hardy and strong species, the humans however, not so much.  They had slain all the Guards who resided in the Castle. They marched up until they reached the height of the Castle, where Hagrid was in hiding.

There they were.

The great and mighty Orcs against Hagrid.

The Orcs approached Hagrid, and then the unexpected; Hagrid, jumped.

Hagrid had survived the fall as he had landed in the great ocean of old.  Hagrid ran away as fast as he could, but where he was going, no-one knew, not even Hagrid.  He just ran, and ran, and ran until he eventually became exhausted.
